Beavers

Colony Chew - December 2014

Welcome to the latest Chew

The Beavers who attended the sleepover will know we were not as lucky with the weather as the Cubs and Scouts. Most of the Cowboy and Indian themed activities had to be inside but that did not stop them making edible wigwams, tomahawks, headdresses and dreamcatchers. They did get outside for a while to throw horseshoes, demolish the tin can alley, build and decorate a tepee, shoot some bows and sing a few themed songs around the campfire.

During the holidays the Beavers were looking after their miniature gardens which they planted in June. The finished articles were brilliant very different from before. We certainly have some great gardeners in the colony and they have the badges to prove it. The Beavers are also good lego model makers and also have some interesting hobbies which we enjoyed hearing about.

The Beavers spent the first week in October caving at Runways End, Abby went down into the cave with them and although it was the first time we had experienced the new caves it was all smiles when they came out. Everyone also enjoyed the backwoods cooking of the bread but not so much the eating. As most of you know there were some great costumes worn for the fright Night Hike around Southwood Woodland, thanks to everyone who came along and walked with us.

In November Val ADC Beavers showed the Beavers how to make edible campfires which they really enjoyed. They also enjoyed bringing in and talking about their collections these included model cars football cards, books, and lego models.

On a chilly night in December the Beavers attended the District campfire where all the colonies did a Christmas song we sang ours brilliantly and really deserved the hot chocolate afterwards. Who would have thought the Beavers were so competitive but The Christmas Bowling party certainly brought it out and it all ended very close.

Activities for the Spring term Donutting, Archery, Table Tennis, exploring hike and lazerRun.
